The Ages

I am fascinated by history and themes about the March of Time. This piece is my March of Time, an interpretation of the ages from prehistoric wooded tools to the iron age, the industrial age to our electronic age and beyond.

Abstract sculpture with wire mesh encasing colorful dome, supported by spiraled metal and electronics.
Wooden object with rock on top, featuring animal and human petroglyph carvings.

The base is a wooden hat mold that I stenciled with some cool petroglyphs. On top of it, there's a slab of petrified wood, followed by an iron plumb bob. Balancing right on the tip of the plumb bob is a wagon wheel, its hub covered in gold and silver leaf. I added a bed spring to the wheel, and inside the spring, I placed a baby head mold, piercing it with electronic resistors. Above that, there's a little pile of resistors and other electronic parts. To top it all off, I put a decoupaged ball covered in steel wool. The electronic components are courtesy of Daniel Tomes. 21Hx5Wx5D
